SAN ANTONIO – A 47-year-old man is facing charges after sexually assaulting a teenage runaway at his home in East Bexar County, according to deputies.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Malcom Barge on Tuesday and released a video of him in custody.
In January, deputies responded to Barge’s home on Park Lake Drive in an attempt to find a missing 16-year-old girl. At the home, deputies found the girl and arrested Barge on a charge of harboring a runaway.
An arrest warrant affidavit states that Barge claimed he didn’t know the girl was underage. He refused to provide more information, investigators said.
During the investigation, deputies learned that Barge had sexually assaulted the girl on multiple occasions, according to BCSO.
Investigators also found sexually explicit text messages between Barge and the girl, the affidavit states.
A warrant for sexual assault of a child was issued on Tuesday, and he was taken into custody without incident.
His bond is set at $50,000.
“The BCSO wants to remind the public that sexual assault predators are deceiving and look for any opportunity to exploit those who are vulnerable,” deputies said in a Facebook post.
