SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating after a man in his 60s was found shot just west of downtown early Thursday morning.
Officers were called around 12:30 a.m. to an apartment complex in the 800 block of North Frio Street, not far from Rivas Street and Interstate 10 after receiving word of a shooting.
According to police, officers arrived to find the man with a gunshot wound to his foot. The man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital, where he is expected to recover.
Police said the victim told officers that two men had tried to rob him when one of them pulled out a gun and fired. He said he managed to walk back to his apartment where he called for help, police said.
SAPD said they searched the area for possible suspects, but did not find anyone. It is unclear if anything was stolen.
Officers say it is still unclear if a robbery actually happened.
