Woman named as suspect in shooting death of man at NW Side apartment complex

Woman called 911, herself, after shooting, police say

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police now have named a woman as a suspect in the overnight shooting death of a man at a Northwest Side apartment complex.

A preliminary report says the 23-year-old woman called 911, herself, shortly after 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

Officers on the scene at the complex, located in the 1500 block of NW Crossroads, said the man died after being shot in the head.

Early on, police said the woman told them she had a restraining order against the man and shot him after he showed up uninvited.

In fact, in an initial report, police named her as a victim in the case.

Homicide investigators spent time going through the woman’s ground floor apartment and interviewing her at their offices downtown.

In a later report, the woman’s status was changed, listing her as a suspect in the case, and that version made no mention of the restraining order.

Police say there was a baby inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.

They say that child was not hurt and was placed in the custody of relatives.
