Arson team investigating large structure fire on Southeast Side

SAN ANTONIO – Arson investigators are looking into what caused a large apartment fire on the Southeast Side, according to San Antonio Fire Department officials.

The apartment building in the 6800 block of Pecan Valley Drive was vacant because it was being renovated.

Crews had to work for several minutes to tap into nearby hydrants to extinguish the large fire, but were able to spray it initially with water in the truck.

SAFD said several windows in other buildings were broken during the response. They estimated about $250,000 of damage.

Arson will work to find out what led up to the large fire, SAFD says.

No injuries have been reported and no one was displaced as the building was vacant.
