SAN ANTONIO – A man with an extensive criminal history is behind bars again after a recent aggravated robbery arrest.
Jerome McKane, 24, was arrested late Thursday morning on a first-degree felony aggravated robbery charge for allegedly stealing a gold necklace from a victim on Saturday in the 300 block of N. New Braunfels Avenue on the East Side.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, McKane met up with the victim after messaging on Facebook Marketplace regarding the sale of a gold necklace.
McKane and the victim met in an H-E-B parking lot near the intersection of East Houston Street and North New Braunfels Avenue before heading to a nearby EZ Pawn store to ensure the necklace was real.
Store associates confirmed the necklace was real and when McKane and the victim walked out of the EZ Pawn, McKane allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim while demanding the victim’s keys, wallet and phone.
The victim handed McKane his property and that’s when McKane fled the scene, the affidavit states.
Jail records show McKane’s bond is set at $75,000 for the aggravated robbery charge. He also has two other felony charges with bonds totaling $60,000 for assault on a peace officer and assault on a family member-second offense, from previous incidents where he was out on bond.
The assault charges stem from a December 2022 incident where McKane was arrested and released from jail two days later. He was arrested again on June 6 on an evading arrest charge and released on bond on June 23.
Court records show McKane has 20 charges dating back to September 2018 in Bexar County.
