SAN ANTONIO – The third annual Black Business Week San Antonio is in full swing at the Holiday Inn SeaWorld and it offers different opportunities and resources for local business owners.
The event is hosted by Black Business San Antonio, an organization with over 130 members.
“We are going to give you education, workshops, discussions, conversations, solutions to every day problems in business and in life,” Neka Cleaver, owner of Black Business San Antonio said.
Cleaver said Black Business Week is growing.
“We have more classes. Last year, we had 10 or 12 classes. This year we have 20,” Cleaver said.
It’s Lakesha Hairston’s second year attending Black Business Week San Antonio.
“The experience last year gave me a lot of resources. A lot resources,” Hairston said.
Hairston owns a career and healthcare training company and says thanks to the resources she has been able to expand her business.
“My classes have grown. I started with two classes and now I have five. All because Black Business San Antonio,” Hairston said.
Retired Air Force Veteran Lakeisha Howard is inspired by stories like Hairston’s and looks forward to growing her own business. She has a message for other entrepreneurs.
“Get involved. Come out. There’s still time for this week. Network with other business owners. The wave has already been paved, so it’s a matter of connecting and growing. Even if it’s a seed that you though about starting a business. This is the way to go. Right here. At Black Business San Antonio,” Howard, owner of We Gotchu Corporation said.
