Open Court: The trial of Sasha Skare

KSAT takes a look at the 2021 murder case involving a San Antonio aspiring rapper related to Beyoncé

SAN ANTONIO – A murder case involving two aspiring musicians is heading to trial.

Martell Derouen, a San Antonio rapper who went by the name of Kordone was found dead at his apartment at The Towers complex in the 16700 block of La Cantera Parkway on Jan. 26, 2021.

Derouen was found with a gunshot wound and it appeared the bullet had gone through his front door.

Derouen was a known San Antonio rapper and was related to singing sensation Beyoncé.

It didn’t take long for police to name their suspect, which was a 21-year-old woman named Sasha Skare.

Sasha Skare was booked Saturday and is being held in the Bexar County Jail. She’s now facing a murder charge in the death of 34-year-old Martell Derouen. (KSAT)

According to the arrest affidavit, Skare also an aspiring singer had been dating Darouen.

Skare at the time of the murder already had a pending case in Travis County.

She was on bond and charged with aggravated robbery after an apparent drug deal that ended in gunfire and left her boyfriend dead.

After a two-week search, Skare was found and arrested.

According to the arrest affidavit surveillance footage from the apartment complex put Skare at the scene.

Moments after the shooting Skare was seen walking along the hallway.

The Trial

According to sources, a plea deal of 20 years was offered to Skare on Aug. 25 but she declined the deal and is now heading for trial.

On Monday, a jury will be picked and testimony is expected to begin tomorrow.
