The Office of the Attorney General of Texas said Michael Paul Morrish, 76, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography.

The office began its investigation into Morrish when investigators received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTipline. The report involved the upload of child pornography to an internet search engine, the office said.

On Tuesday, Child Exploitation Unit investigators executed a search warrant at Morrish’s home in New Braunfels, where they found the images on his computer, the office said.

“Morrish confessed to viewing files of child pornography on his computer,” the Office of the Attorney General of Texas said. “He indicated he has been viewing child pornography since 2005.”

Several electronic devices were seized for examination, the office added.

In a statement posted online, Navarro ISD Superintendent Mandy D. Epley said they learned about the employee’s arrest on Tuesday, and said his employment was terminated.

Epley said they do not believe any students were involved.

“Navarro ISD is fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities during their investigation,” Epley said. “We are committed to transparency and will provide any necessary support as the legal process unfolds. We will also be conducting our own investigation into this matter.”

Morrish had been working with the district since 2010, a spokesperson with Navarro ISD said.

Morrish was taken to the Comal County Jail and handed a $50,000 bond. He was released on Wednesday after posting bail.
