SPRING BRANCH, Texas – A newly opened farmer’s market in the Texas Hill Country has locals walking through an oasis of fresh plants in addition to produce.

Spring Creek Gardens, located at 11355 U.S. Highway 281 N. in Spring Branch, hosts a farmers market every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during market months, which are September-December and March-June.

“After testing the waters and adding the bi-weekly Friday Farmers Markets in March 2023, in addition to our monthly Makers Markets; we had such a great response from the community regarding the Farmers Markets, that we knew we needed to make our Farmers Markets more accessible,” marketing director Kellie Bachel told KSAT.

“The demand from vendors that first season far exceeded our expectations, the feedback from our guests was incredible, and after the first month of operating, we had to place vendors on standby simply due to not having a large enough space to fit them all - not a bad problem to have,” Bachel said.

Spring Creek Gardens now hosts the weekly markets in a space that can accommodate more than 50 vendors.

Bachel told KSAT there are food-related vendors, small-batch artisans, and everything in between.

“We also converted an old barn into our new, fun and hip biergarten area within the market space,” she said. “We host classes and seminars in the biergarten, as well as occasionally play Saturday College football. The new market space has an area for food trucks to serve our guests, as well as space for musicians to set up and share their sounds into the market space.”

The environment is also well-suited for families and in addition to the markets, Bachel said the gardens will host Pumpkin Play Days on Oct. 21 and 28, which focus on fall-themed activities.

Guests can expect to find a pumpkin patch, games, pumpkin painting activities, hayrides, photo ops, live music and more. The event is free but any child wanting to participate in the festivities of the day will need to have pre-purchased a $10 wristband. Quantity is limited.

Spring Creek Gardens will host a Christmas-themed farmers market on Dec. 9 and Santa Claus is expected to make an appearance.

If you can’t make it on a farmers market day, Spring Creek Gardens frequently hosts a number of different things.

“We host tons of events, classes, seminars, markets and activities at Spring Creek. Kids classes, adult classes, field trips, private events such as bridal showers, culinary experiences and so much more. There are various spaces within Spring Creek that provide a unique experience for our guests,” said Bachel.
