SAN ANTONIO – SeaWorld San Antonio has delayed the opening of the Catapult Falls, the world’s first launched flume coaster.
In a news release on Thursday, SeaWorld San Antonio said the ride will now open in the spring of 2024.

“Sometimes it takes a little delayed gratification to produce something completely innovative; it was important to us to ensure that our first-of-its-kind water flume coaster is perfected in every part of the ride experience and that is what we have done,” park President Jodi Davenport said in the release.
“We know our guests are going to agree it was worth the wait once they take their first jaw-dropping plunge on the world’s first launched flume coaster,” Davenport added.
The ride was originally expected to open this summer.
Catapult Falls involves 11 eight-person carts that send riders through a water-filled course before taking them 55 feet in the air via an elevator. Carts are then launched down a 53-degree slope at more than 37 miles per hour.
The drop is the world’s steepest for a flume attraction, the release states.
SeaWorld San Antonio said 2024 season pass members will be the first to ride Catapult Falls. Those who have 2023 season passes will receive one free ticket valid for use during the ride’s grand opening period.
