SAN ANTONIO – A new exhibition at the Witte Museum takes visitors along an exciting journey through Texas iconic habitats.
“We see eight ecoregions in Texas, making us an incredibly ecological diverse state,” said Abbey Jacks, Environmental Science Education Manager at the Witte Museum.
Visitors can examine natural history specimens and artwork from the exhibit ‘A State of Exploration,’ which debuted on Saturday.
“This is an incredible place where you can come and learn without going out in a wild space and potentially disturbing some of the things that we see here,” Jacks said.
There is also an Explorer’s Corner, where visitors can practice sketching animals and plants, and a station where visitors can listen to bird sounds.
“One of our founders, Ellen Quillin, began this collection with her high school students. It was a fundraiser to purchase this beginning collection. And again, this is the foundation for which we have grown on for over 100 years now,” Jacks said.
The exhibit allows visitors to explore the different parts of Texas from the deserts and mountains of West Texas to the tropics of South Texas.
If you want to learn more, the exhibit is on display through March 17, 2024.
