During the afternoon hours, the school administration received a report of a student on campus who was possibly carrying a weapon.
School officials and NISD police quickly found the student, and after a thorough search, they found a gun, Berger confirmed.
It’s unclear if the weapon was loaded.
No injuries were reported, and “at no time was there a threat made against anyone on the campus,” school officials said in a statement.
The student who brought the gun to campus “will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” Berger said in a statement.
“We will continue to remain vigilant to ensure our campus is safe. I want to commend the Brandeis HS students and staff who continue to show great responsibility and concern by reporting this information to school officials,” Berger said.
Students and staff are encouraged to report any potential safety concerns to campus administration.
