Bustos was driving a 1995 Ford Ranger when he started “brake-checking” another vehicle, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
The male driver of the other vehicle passed the Ranger, and Bustos showed the driver a gun, police said.
Bustos again drove ahead of the other vehicle and started to “brake-check” it, police said. The other driver told police that’s when he decided to record the incident on his phone “for evidence.”
After they both reached the turnaround at Boerne Stage Road and I-10, Bustos abruptly stopped as the other driver passed him. That’s when, police said, Bustos pulled out a handgun and started shooting at the man’s vehicle.
The other driver was still recording as the shooting occurred.
Authorities were able to identify Bustos as the suspect using facial recognition and social media.
A warrant for his arrest was signed Wednesday, the same day he was taken into custody. His bond was set at $100,000.
