Woman killed, man in critical condition after shooting at Southeast Side home, police say

Incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in 5600 block of Espada Cliff

SAN ANTONIO – A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition following a shooting at a home on the city’s Southeast Side early Wednesday morning, according to San Antonio police.

Officers were called around 1:30 a.m. to a home in the 5600 block of Espada Cliff, not far from Sinclair Road and Loop 410 after receiving word of a shooting.

According to police, officers arrived to find a man in his 30s with a gunshot wound to the chest and two additional wounds to his arm. A woman was found fatally shot in the garage of the house.

Police said the man in his 30s was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where at last check, he was listed in critical condition.

Officers say they found bullet casings in the grass and they believe the shooter fled on foot. There is no suspect information. A motive for the shooting is not currently known.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.

The name of the woman killed has not yet been released, pending notification to next of kin.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
