New Braunfels police seek man who attacked driver with machete in road rage incident

Incident occurred Monday near North Market Avenue, East San Antonio Street

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – The New Braunfels Police Department says they are searching for a person who slashed a driver with a machete-like weapon during an apparent road rage incident Monday afternoon.

Officers were called around noon to the intersection of North Market Avenue and East San Antonio Street, not far from Landa Street after receiving word of a person wounded.

According to police, officers arrived to find a 55-year-old man from Canyon Lake with a slash wound to his upper body. The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where he’s expected to recover.

Police said the man had been involved in a road rage incident with another driver when both men got out of their vehicles and the suspect confronted him with a machete-like weapon. At some point during the altercation the man was slashed, police said.

NBPD said they are looking for an older man with gray hair, driving a lightly colored four-door pickup truck.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to contact New Braunfels Police or Comal County Crime Stoppers.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $4,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
