KSAT Q&A: BCSO Sheriff Javier Salazar discusses dog attacks, Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar joined KSAT Q&A to discuss several trending topics.

Salazar touched upon how the sheriff’s office handles dog attacks and how they are handling the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, among other gangs in the area.

Nathan Buchanan, Republican candidate for Bexar County Sheriff, released a statement on Monday regarding the deadly dog attack of a 1-year-old baby last week:

“It’s always tragic when an innocent person dies, especially a child with a full life ahead of him. I think it’s important to hold people accountable for the actions of their dogs, or for that matter, any animal kept as a pet or a companion. My condolences and prayers go out to the family of that child . Perhaps it is time the County Commissioners consider drafting an ordinance to hold owners accountable for aberrant actions of their animals. I am confident the county’s attorneys could look into the legalities and propose creation of such an ordinance. Dangerous dogs may be a threat to the entire community, but their owner or caretaker should be ultimately be responsible, certainly civilly but perhaps criminally as well.”
