BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – This New Year’s holiday, Bexar County residents are restricted from using certain fireworks within the county’s limits.
The Bexar County Commissioners Court approved a ban on the sale and use of “restricted” fireworks earlier this month.
Those fireworks are classified as “skyrockets with sticks” or “missiles with fins.”
The order comes from the current drought conditions in Bexar County.

These fireworks have been banned in Bexar County before due to the drought levels in the city.
All other legally sold consumer fireworks can still be used, officials said.
Violations of the order are considered a Class C misdemeanor with fines not to exceed $500, according to the Bexar County Commissioners Court.
The Commissioners Court reminded Bexar County residents to “Designate a Douser” if they are planning on handling fireworks over the holiday season.
A designated douser would be an adult in charge of overseeing the proper dousing of spent fireworks to avoid potential flames rising out of the trash.
The ban on the two types of fireworks goes into effect immediately and is in effect until March 10.
