SAN ANTONIO – The city of San Antonio is mourning the loss of Rosemary Kowalski, a beloved figure whose philanthropy and community service legacy spanned a century. Her impact on the city will be celebrated as the Texas Cavaliers honor her memory at the River Parade during Fiesta next year.
Kowalski was set to be the grand marshal for the 2025 Texas Cavaliers River Parade, a role that highlighted her embodiment of this year’s theme, “Shine Bright: A Celebration of Light and Illumination for All.”

The parade, scheduled for Monday, April 28, will now serve as a tribute to her life and contributions.
“She was not just a prominent San Antonio figure, but a luminous example of compassion and generosity that brightened the lives of countless individuals,” the Texas Cavaliers said in a news release.
Kowalski, alongside her husband, founded the RK Group, a hospitality and culinary service company, without prior experience. This venture grew into a successful business lasting over 70 years, including a significant contract with the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
“Rosemary didn’t just make an appearance in our city – she claimed a profound place in its heart,” said Tres Steves, Texas Cavaliers River Parade marshal. “Her unwavering commitment to her community was a beacon of hope, casting light into every corner of San Antonio she touched.”
Tickets for the parade will be available to the general public starting Jan. 1, while legacy ticket holders can already secure their spots.
Proceeds from the event support thousands of children in the community through the Texas Cavaliers Charitable Foundation, which has donated over $17.5 million to more than 100 local children’s charities.
Fiesta 2025 is scheduled for April 24 to May 4.
