SAN ANTONIO – A two-vehicle rollover crash along Loop 1604 on the North Side led to an intoxication assault charge and briefly closed the highway in both directions late Wednesday night, according to San Antonio police.
The crash occurred on Loop 1604 near Bulverde Road just before midnight.
When officers arrived, they found a two-vehicle crash on the eastbound lanes of Loop 1604.
Both vehicles were traveling eastbound when one vehicle crossed over and collided with the other, police said.
The impact caused the second vehicle to roll over into the median, resulting in serious injuries to the driver, a 33-year-old man, who was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the first vehicle, a 61-year-old man, was also taken to a separate hospital for minor injuries. He was believed to be impaired while driving and was arrested for intoxication assault after being released from the hospital, police said.
Both sides of the highway were closed because a vehicle had ended up on the other side, according to SAPD.
