Volunteers raise their sleeves, wrap holiday gifts for Roy Maas Youth Alternatives children

In all, 500 gifts were wrapped and will be given to children at the Roy Maas Residential Care Home

SAN ANTONIO – For nearly 100 volunteers, the choice to help brighten up the holidays for some San Antonio children was a wrap.

Those volunteers wrapped gifts on Friday for the children and teenagers who live at Roy Maas Youth Alternatives' residential care home.

This time of year can be difficult for the children since they come from homes where they may have experienced neglect and abuse.

Thanks to Roy Maas staff, volunteers and help from community partners, the holidays can feel like the holidays for the kids.

“While a gift can never replace a loving family, we do everything we can to help bring the kids joy,” Roy Maas Youth Alternatives chief development officer Julie Healy said. ”And our community helps us do that."

In all, the volunteers wrapped 500 gifts. The gifts will be given to children at the Roy Maas Youth Alternatives' residential care home.
