SAN ANTONIO – Gas prices in San Antonio have decreased by 13.6 cents per gallon over the past week, now averaging $2.42 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 886 stations in the city.
Prices in San Antonio are 8.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 1 cent higher than a year ago.

The national average price of diesel has declined by 1.8 cents in the last week, standing at $3.472 per gallon.
GasBuddy reports that the cheapest station in San Antonio was priced at $2.23 per gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive was $3.19 per gallon, a 96-cent difference.
Across Texas, the lowest price was $2.10 per gallon, and the highest was $3.91 per gallon, a difference of $1.81.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline has gone up by 0.8 cents per gallon over the last week, averaging $2.98 per gallon on Monday. This is down 7.5 cents from a month ago and 7.1 cents lower than a year ago, based on GasBuddy data from over 150,000 gas stations across the country.

In neighboring areas, Laredo’s current gas price is $2.40 per gallon, down 3.2 cents from last week’s $2.43. Corpus Christi is at $2.49 per gallon, down 8.1 cents from $2.57 last week. Austin’s average is $2.43 per gallon, a decrease of 11.7 cents from last week’s $2.54.
“As we edge closer to the end of the year, we’re seeing momentum for falling gas prices weaken, which is typical as the national average generally bottoms out between Thanksgiving and Christmas,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “With oil prices rising back above $70 last week, gas prices may have less potential to drop much further, though there may be a second window of lower prices in January or February in some areas, but even that won’t last long.”
