SAN ANTONIO – CPS Energy has announced an easier way for customers to pay their energy bills.
The energy utility stated that consumers can begin paying their bills in cash at participating retail locations such as H-E-B, Dollar General, Walgreens, CVS, 7-Eleven, Stripes, Family Dollar, and Pilot Flying J.

CPS Energy said customers can pay at a designated pay station or at checkout by presenting a barcode from their bill.
They can also generate a barcode through CPS Energy’s EZ Pay online system, though keep in mind these are account-specific, and new ones will be generated if an account number changes.
Cash is accepted at all locations, but debit cards will only be accepted at specific locations. Credit cards are not accepted, and a vendor convenience fee of $1.99 will be charged for each transaction, CPS Energy said.
“Providing convenient payment options is part of our commitment to delivering excellent service to our customers,” said Christen Waggoner, vice president of Customer Experience Operations for CPS Energy. “The retail cash payment option makes it easier for customers to manage their bills while visiting locations they already frequent, giving them another way to stay connected and in control of their energy services.”
The CPS Energy Walk-in Customer Service Centers and the Western Union payment service at retail locations will continue to be existing payment options for consumers.
