Spriester Sessions: Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller on his holiday message, health and speaking his mind

Archbishop reflects on recovery and unity amidst political strife

SAN ANTONIO – It has been three months since Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller was rushed to the hospital by ambulance due to dangerously low blood sugar — so low they thought he was having a stroke. He spent three days recovering.

“It was like, you know, you start thinking about how fragile you are,” the archbishop told KSAT’s Steve Spriester.

Although he has fully recovered, he said the experience taught him an important lesson — one he plans to share in his holiday message this Christmas season.

In this KSAT exclusive, Spriester sat down with the leader of the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

García-Siller has never been afraid to speak his mind, and in this far-reaching interview, he discusses not only his health but his approach to social media and his efforts to bridge political divides.

“So how to build unity and uniformity, how to to be involving conflicts, but not with violence,” he said.

He also talked about what makes San Antonio special. Watch the latest edition of Spriester Sessions in the video player above.
