SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man who died in police custody when he delayed traffic and punched an officer during an altercation.
The medical examiner’s office identified him as 43 year old Timothy Scott. A cause and manner of death for Scott was not immediately available.

The incident happened around noon on Dec. 15 at the Northeast Loop 410 access road and Starcrest Drive intersection.
According to a report from SAPD, Scott was walking in and out of traffic while attempting to open the doors of nearby vehicles.
A sergeant at the scene told KSAT that the officer tried to move Scott away from passing vehicles.
The report stated that the officer activated his lights and Scott began to walk away.
The officer tried to detain Scott but he resisted and began punching the officer in the face, the report said.
During the altercation, Scott attempted to grab the officer’s weapon, police said. The officer then used his Taser on Scott, according to the report.
After other officers arrived, Scott was taken into custody; however, at some point, he stopped breathing.
Officers and EMS officials gave Scott CPR, but he died at the hospital, the report said.
According to police, the officer sustained minor injuries.
