Homicide investigation underway in far west Bexar County, sheriff’s office says

Victim’s common-law wife detained for further questioning

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A man in his 30s was found dead in the Alamo Ranch area of Bexar County on Monday afternoon, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the man was discovered with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

The man’s father, who was contacted to check on his son, found the body at a home on Gunsight Pass and Rimrock Springs, according to BCSO.

One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, described the scene as unsettling. “It’s so scary to be here in this area,” the neighbor said. She added that she was shocked to learn details of the death and that foul play was suspected. “It’s horrible, like it’s scary that you live close to that house,” she added.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office contacted BCSO and asked them to check on the man’s home. A BCSO spokesperson added that authorities detained the victim’s common-law wife, though they are not calling her a suspect at this time.

“This is so unexpected,” said the neighbor who asked to remain anonymous.

BCSO said the investigation is ongoing, and they have no clear motive yet.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact BCSO at 210-335-6000.
