Upon arrival, police said they found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her arm.
Officers applied tourniquets on the wound to prevent the woman from bleeding any further, according to SAPD.
There were a significant amount of people outside at the scene as officers were investigating what had happened, police said.
The woman’s father told SAPD that they were walking to a vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex when he heard up to seven gunshots.
He urged his daughter to get inside, but she eventually fell as she was shot, police stated.
Police said they don’t have any information on the shooter, just that multiple people heard the gunfire. Officers found shell casings at the apartment where the woman was shot and another building nearby.
The woman was transported to a local hospital for further treatment. She is expected to be OK, police said.
No other injuries were reported.
