Former US President Jimmy Carter’s legacy lives on through Habitat for Humanity

Carter spent time volunteering and assisting for those in need of a home

SAN ANTONIO – Although former U.S. President Jimmy Carter is now gone, his legacy will not only be remembered, but it’ll also continue with Habitat for Humanity.

After leaving the White House, the Carters spent their time volunteering and assisting in building homes for those in need.

Habitat San Antonio was the first Habitat affiliate in the country.

The Carters would go on to help build more homes and inspire thousands of people worldwide to volunteer to build, repair, and renovate homes.

“Ultimately, he was someone who wanted to do something for his neighbor, and he wanted to tell other people how to do it, too. He was genuine in what he did and what he believed, and I think he was just a really good man, said Stephanie Wiese, the Vice President for Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio. “

Wiese told KSAT that the nonprofit wants to build a home in honor of Carter in 2025. More details on the fundraising efforts should be released soon.
