SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Fire Department is investigating a fire that led to the total loss of a home and damaged a building with four small businesses on the East Side.

The fire started around 5 a.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of N. Pine Street, near I-35.

SAFD Battalion Chief Brandon Schultz said the fire started in the back of a house and was worsened by wind. He said it took an hour and a half to get under control.

Schultz said there were no reports of injuries, and no one was inside at the time of the fire.

The building to the left of the house contained four small businesses, which also caught some “pretty good fire,” according to Schultz. He said firefighters will be contacting the owners of those businesses.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but the San Antonio Fire Department reported that this same house caught on fire around a month and a half ago.

Fire investigators will be working to find the cause, he said.
