SAPD officer injured after crash involving driver with active warrant, police say

Police: Driver did not have license; Officer taken to hospital with minor injuries

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio police officer was injured after a crash involving a driver who had an active warrant and no driver’s license, according to SAPD.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. Monday near Old Pearsall Road and Holm Road on the Southwest Side.

The officer was driving northbound on Old Pearsall Road when a Nissan Altima pulled out in front of the patrol car, according to a preliminary report from SAPD.

Both vehicles collided, sending the patrol car head-on with another vehicle.

While the driver of the Altima remained at the scene, police said they were arrested for an active, unrelated warrant.

SAPD did not specify what the warrant was for. The driver was arrested for no operator license and no liability insurance, the report said.

The officer was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, police said.
