Man injured after crashing car into utility pole, stopping in front yard of home, SAPD says

Police: Man did not appear to show signs of intoxication

SAN ANTONIO – A man was injured after he crashed his car into a utility pole and came to a stop in the front yard of a home, according to a preliminary report from San Antonio police.

Officers said the crash happened in the 400 block of Hawthorne Street on the South Side around 3:40 a.m. Thursday.

The man exited the highway at a high rate of speed and lost control before crashing into the utility pole, police said. The vehicle stopped in the front yard but did not damage the home.

The 28-year-old man was taken to an area hospital with injuries to his head. It is unclear how severe his injuries were. No one inside the home was injured.

Police said the man did not appear to show signs of intoxication, and no charges are expected to be filed.
