HONDO, Texas – The Hondo Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify the persons of interest who may be connected to a New Year’s Day fire.
First responders in Medina County were dispatched to a fire that engulfed an old wood-framed barn just after 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of 18th Street in Hondo.
Currently, no injuries in the fire have been reported.
Twelve hours after the fire began burning — around 10 a.m. Thursday — Hondo police obtained and shared a video of three people running from the fire.
Authorities said they believe the individuals may be connected to the fire and are considered persons of interest.
It is unclear if Hondo police officers are investigating the fire as arson or if the individuals could face arson-related charges.
Anyone with information on the individuals in the video is asked to contact Hondo police or the Medina County Fire Marshal’s Office.
