According to police, the pedestrians tried to cross the highway in an area where pedestrians are not permitted to do so. SAPD said the first driver traveling eastbound was unable to get out of the way in time before hitting both victims.
Similar to the first driver, officers also said a second eastbound driver could not get out of the way before striking one of the two victims a second time.
Authorities said both drivers remained at the scene when officers arrived.
The victims, who were found unresponsive in the roadway, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
In Saturday’s report, SAPD said that no charges are expected to be filed against the drivers in the case.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office told KSAT on Saturday afternoon that the pedestrians have yet to be identified.
