Where to stay warm in San Antonio during week of cold weather

Warming centers and overnight shelters have been activated all over the city

SAN ANTONIO – The City of San Antonio has activated warming shelters across the area to give people a heated place to stay during a week of cold weather.

“We want to make sure everyone is safe and warm as the weather fluctuates,” said Brian Chasnoff with the City of San Antonio. “So right now, we’re in level one, and so these places are available for folks to come in and warm up.”

You can find a list of warming places here through this link. You can also call 311 to find the closest one to you.

These centers will be open during the day for normal business hours.

The City’s Department of Human Services street outreach, alongside SAMMinistries, Haven for Hope, Corazon, and Centro ambassadors, is helping those affected by the cold weather.

Several are offering temporary overnight shelters, including Corazon SA at Travis Park Church, Communities under the Bridge and SAMMinistries shelter, and Haven for Hope’s partnership with Endeavors.

The city’s community connection hotline can assist people needing to find a location. That number is 210-207-1799.

Transportation to shelters will also be provided.

The city says it is also coordinating with Animal Care Services and the Office of Emergency Management to address any pets that would accompany people while they are in shelters.
