Teen injured in head-on collision on South Side; driver accused of intoxication assault

Driver suspected of intoxication assault is being treated at the hospital

SAN ANTONIO – A 19-year-old man was injured Monday morning in a head-on collision on the South Side and the other driver was arrested.

The crash happened around 9:55 a.m. in the 14600 block of Pleasanton Road, not far from Mauermann Road.

San Antonio police said a Nissan Sentra driven by the 19-year-old victim was heading northbound and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound. According to the teen, the Silverado veered into the northbound lane, striking his car head-on.

He was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries but is reported to be in stable condition.

The driver of the Silverado, a 56-year-old woman, showed signs of intoxication at the scene, police said. She was also taken to the hospital for treatment and is expected to face charges of intoxication assault upon her release.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
