Home north of downtown catches fire for second time in 24 hours, SAFD says

Firefighters responded to the same home in the 100 block of University Avenue on Wednesday

A home near downtown San Antonio caught fire for the second time in two days, the San Antonio Fire Department said. (Copyright 2025 by KSAT - All rights reserved.)

SAN ANTONIO – A home near downtown San Antonio caught fire for the second time in two days, the San Antonio Fire Department said.

Thursday’s fire happened just after 4 p.m. in the 100 block of University Avenue.

SAFD said the fire appeared to start in the attic or on the home’s second floor.

There was no indication that anyone was inside the home at any point in the day, fire officials said. Utilities were turned off when firefighters said they responded to the home.

No injuries were reported. The cause of Thursday’s fire remains under investigation.

Twenty-four hours earlier, around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, SAFD said it responded to a fire at the same home on University Avenue.

The son of a couple who live at the home told KSAT that Wednesday’s fire was caused by candles and a space heater.

Additionally, no injuries were reported in Wednesday’s fire.
