SAN ANTONIO – A murder trial began on Tuesday for a woman accused of murdering her grandmother back in 2020.
Tamera Tamika Laws was charged in connection with the death of Doris Ruth Novella, 70.
According to an indictment, Laws struck Novella with a hammer, stabbed her and choked her.
The trial is taking place in the 175th Bexar County Criminal District Court as a bench trial.
A bench trial means there is no jury to hear the case. The judge will decide the verdict in the case.
If found guilty, Laws faces up to life behind bars.
