10-year-old boy shot in ankle in drive-by shooting near Woodlawn Lake, SAPD says

Child was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

SAN ANTONIO – A 10-year-old boy was shot in the ankle during a drive-by shooting at a home near Woodlawn Lake, according to San Antonio police.

The shooting happened at a home in the 1600 block of West French Place around 5:15 a.m. Thursday.

The boy was asleep on the couch when he was hit in the ankle by the bullet. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said in a preliminary report.\

There was no information available about a potential suspect.

Last April, 61-year-old Jesus Mares Ortega was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting at the same home.

Police did not say if the two shootings were connected.
