Medical examiner’s office identifies man shot, killed at West Side apartment complex

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man who was shot and killed at a West Side apartment complex.

Jonathan Orta, 33, died from a gunshot wound to his torso, according to the medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.

The shooting happened just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Torreon St.

San Antonio police said the shooter, who is in his 20s, fled the scene. The shooter has not been found.

Upon arrival, SAPD said Orta was alive and was being treated by first responders. However, he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Orta and the shooter may have known each other.

At this time, it’s unclear what led to the shooting. Police said in a preliminary report Thursday that no arrests had been made.

The investigation remains ongoing.
