SAN ANTONIO – Thousands of students gathered from 41 San Antonio-area high schools on Thursday, May 1, for the Battle of Flowers Band Festival.

More than 4,400 students performed at the Alamo Stadium.
The Battle of Flowers Band Parade was scheduled to finish at 10 p.m. on Thursday. However, organizers ended the festival early around 9:15 p.m. due to incoming storms.

The 89th annual band festival is the oldest and longest-running marching band festival in the nation, according to the Battle of Flowers Association. The festival allows high school students to perform together and encourages their interest in music.
