SAN ANTONIO – Economic Innovation Group has released a distressed communities index (DCI), which shows the economic well-being of all the zip codes in the U.S.
The 2017 DCI finds that 52.3 million Americans live in economically distressed communities, and one-fifth of all zip codes score worst on the DCI. That represents one in six Americans or 17 percent of the U.S. population, according to EIG.

The percentage of San Antonians with no high school diploma is 18.6 percent, according to data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau from 2011-2015.
San Antonio’s percentage of adults not working is 29.2 percent and the poverty rate is 19.8 percent.
The city has an average distress score of 63.2

The most-distressed zip code, according to the data, is 78208, with a score of 98.8.
The least-distressed zip code is 78248, with a score of 0.3.
