The district has been in need of additional drivers this school year and said they will be continually hiring drivers in the coming months.

Paid training is available during the summer. The district said the positions are part-time.

According to NEISD, starting pay for bus drivers has increased to $12.25 per hour, with an incremental increase after 88 school days of 25 cents, totaling to $12.50 per hour after 88 school days.

With the new starting pay, NEISD says it now ranks amongst the highest in pay for bus drivers. The district says benefits are available, which include medical, dental and vision insurance, retirement, paid training and paid holidays.

The district said applicants must have a valid Texas driver's license, should be 21 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or GED. NEISD said candidates must complete a physical examination, drug test and criminal background check.
