Body of 21-year-old man found with gunshot wounds in Pleasanton home

Police investigate incident as homicide

PLEASANTON, Texas – The body of a 21-year-old man was discovered with gunshot wounds early Thursday inside a home in Pleasanton, police said.

Pleasanton police identified the body as that of Andrew Marcus Perez.

Police were called around 3:30 a.m. to help emergency medical technicians, who discovered the body in the 600 block of Sanchez Street.

Investigators said Perez lived at the home where his body was found.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide pending further investigation, a news release said.

Police interviewed witnesses who were inside the home.

Pleasanton Police Chief Ronald Sanchez did not provide any details about the circumstances surrounding Perez's death, only saying several times that this is a very active investigation.

"You know we’re on it. We’re in the middle of this, and the neighborhood should not be concerned," he said.

Sanchez said officers found a weapon at the scene, but he did not give any details about the type of weapon, nor would he say where Perez suffered gunshot wounds.

Texas Rangers are also assisting in the investigation, but Sanchez said his department would be the lead law enforcement agency on the case.
