SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio's Toyota production plant will not be churning out trucks until at least Friday after Wednesday's overnight storms opened a hole in the plant's roof.
Toyota said water came into the building after heavy storms moved across South Texas.
"The TMMTX facility sustained roof damage which allowed water to enter the building. We are aware of and are preparing for the projected weather so we can minimize impact," Toyota said in a statement.
Production workers were sent home Wednesday while the cleanup started. The company said production will also be shut down Thursday.
Toyota said some workers will be on-site Thursday in non-production areas. Employees should call 888-848-6689 to find out if they should report to work.
A power outage was also reported at the plant Wednesday morning.
