Today is an exciting day at KSAT 12 as we launch a new local lifestyle show and a new one-hour newscast.

"SA Live" is a new local afternoon lifestyle show that will air Monday through Friday at 1 p.m. from the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum downtown.

"SA Live" will feature fun, games, entertainment, local events, interviews, audience interaction and exciting lifestyle segments.

"'SA Live' will feature all the things that make living in San Antonio and South Texas great," said KSAT 12 Vice President and General Manager Phil Lane. "South Texas viewers have always embraced our news coverage and we're really excited about this opportunity to provide them with entertainment as well. The vibrancy at 'The Buckhorn' really lends itself to the type of program we want to produce."

"SA Live" launches on Monday with a live performance from the Sam Houston High School Marching Band, and some great tail-gating tips from Kiolbasa sausage. Viewers are invited to come down and join in the festivities as Houston Street will be closed down between Navarro and Presa for the big street party.

"SA Live" will be co-hosted by Fiona Gorostiza and Jeff Roper and also feature correspondents Mayde "Mimi" Gomez and Johnny Garcia.

"SA Live" is being produced by the Creative Services Department at KSAT 12.

Another reason we're excited about the fall season is that KSAT 12 News is once again expanding its news presence by adding a half-hour to its "6 O'clock News."

The hour-long newscast will be anchored by Ursula Pari and Steve Spriester, with "Your Weather Authority" team of Adam Caskey, Katie Vossler and Justin Horne covering weather stories and Larry Ramirez on sports.

The expansion of "KSAT 12 6 O'Clock News" means that "First News @ 4" will no longer air on KSAT 12.

"We're constantly reviewing our commitment to the community and listening to our viewers and we've learned that people get more news in the early afternoon 'on the go' using their smartphones, tablets and online," Lane said.  "The expanded '6 O'clock News' will be more accessible to people who work outside the home and want to catch up on the latest breaking news when they return home."

With the expansion of the "6 O'Clock News," several other programs on KSAT 12 will be moving. Currently airing at 6:30 p.m., "Entertainment Tonight" will move to 4:30 p.m. and "Inside Edition" will move up to 4:00 p.m.

The entire afternoon lineup looks like this:

  • 12 p.m.     "KSAT12 News @ Noon"
  • 1 p.m.      "SA Live"
  • 2 p.m.      "General Hospital"
