San Marcos dedicates new Rattler Stadium

Rattler Stadium built after voters approved $18.5 million bond package

SAN ANTONIO – The San Marcos Rattlers finally have a stadium to call their own. Rattler Stadium was officially dedicated Wednesday evening in San Marcos.

For years, the Rattlers have played their home games at Texas State's Bobcat Stadium, but voters approved an $18.5 million bond package last May that helped build the new stadium.

Rattler Stadium has seating for a total of 8,000 fans, with 5,000 seats reserved on the home stands.

There is also a tailgate area and an area where children can play while their parents watch the game.

A track does not surround the field so fans can be closer to the action on the field.

"We wanted to make sure our fans would come out, have a good time and it would be an event and not just a game," said Mark Soto, San Marcos Head Coach.

San Marcos voters approved another bond package that will help build a student activity complex.

The complex should be completed in December and will include a new indoor field, gym, track and weight room.
