SAPD arrests suspect in Medical Drive shooting death

James Striblin, 39, shot, killed Margarita Natividad Friday, police say

SAN ANTONIO – Police arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Margarita Natividad, 28. She’s a mother of six who was shot and killed last Friday at an apartment complex on Medical Drive.

James Edward Striblin, 39, was arrested and charged with murder Wednesday afternoon. When asked why he did it, he claimed self-defense.

Striblin was arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

Police said Striblin was waiting at the apartment complex for another woman, Priscilla Cueva, 30, to return from work Friday. When Cueva finally came home later, a fight broke out and Natividad stepped in. She was allegedly trying to protect Cueva.

“The victim in this case was killed because she was defending her friend. Her friend and the suspect, they had been involved in a relationship. I don’t know to what extent that was… but she was defending her friend when he got upset about that and shot and killed her,” said Jessie Salame, San Antonio Police Department spokesman.

Cueva was initially a person of interest. Police said they have talked to her and that is no longer the case.

SAPD said no other arrests are expected in this case.
