A man is facing a slew of charges after police say he dragged an officer in a stolen truck, then led police on a short car chase before trying to get away on foot.
Authorities said they were patrolling the area of Highway 151 and Loop 410 and stopped the driver of a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a Home Depot.
San Antonio police Sgt. Steve Priore said that an officer reached inside the vehicle to help the driver out of the car when the driver, who has not been identified, drove off and dragged the officer.
Priore said the officer was able to push himself off of the car and authorities began chasing the driver.
According to police, the man ditched the stolen truck, ran from police and attempted to force his way into a home in a subdivision off of Cable Ranch Road. Police said the homeowner, fearing for the safety of his family and himself, shot at the man but missed.
Authorities said the truck came back stolen out of Frio County. Two firearms that were reported stolen in a burglary on the South Side last week were also recovered from the car.
The suspect was taken to police headquarters for further questioning.
