SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE: Police said the man was out of the house without incident on Saturday night.
(Original Story)
Police and SWAT surrounded a house on the northwest side Saturday night after a man allegedly punched his wife and pulled a gun on officers.
The standoff started just before 5 p.m. when a woman called authorities and said her husband punched her in the face. She was able to get out of their home on London Heights, less than a mile from Braun Station Elementary School, San Antonio Police Department chief William McManus said
McManus said the suspect "greeted officers with a handgun" when they entered the home, prompting officers to retreat and call backup rather than use deadly force.
As of 6 p.m. Saturday, police were still trying to get in contact with the man and get him out of the home. McManus said they tried calling the man's cellphone, but he wasn't answering.
McManus said in situations where "there's no one inside that's in danger, we wait."
The suspect could face a domestic violence charge and charges for pulling a gun on officers.
