CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Selena’s brother A.B. Quintanilla was taken into custody during his court hearing Wednesday morning after failing to pay more than $87,000 in back child support, authorities said.
According to KRIS-TV, Quintanilla was actually expected to appear in court on Aug. 4, but failed to show up to address non-payment of child support.

However, Quintanilla’s lawyer, William Dudley, appeared on his behalf and told the court his client had no knowledge about the court date, according to KRIS-TV.
On Wednesday, Judge Missy Medary revoked Quintanilla’s community supervision and remanded him to the Nueces County Jail.
“I am going to have you sit in the jail, and I want you to think about two things,” Medary told Quintanilla during the court hearing.
"I want you to think about your responsibility as a father, and I want you to think of the rights of your child."

On July 31, KSAT.com reported the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office released its top 10 most wanted via Facebook, and Quintanilla, 53, was among the list of people wanted for contempt of court and nonpayment of child support.
Before putting him into custody, Merdary told Quintanilla she would bring him back to the courtroom at a later date to discuss whether he should continue to “remain in the Nueces County Jail” or if he “understands what it is to be a father.”

According to KRIS-TV, the Texas Attorney General’s Office reported the last amount paid by Quintanilla was $16.84 in September 2015.
