SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE: The identity of a man who was shot in the chest and is linked to a kidnapping on the Southwest Side has been revealed by authorities. Jorge Josue Peralta Garcia, 21, was killed last week at a home on Stonybrook.
ORIGINAL STORY: A 22-year-old man who was wounded in a fatal shooting was arrested for taking part in a kidnapping and ransom scheme, according to an arrest affidavit.
Ramiro Lopez was shot in the hand around 3:45 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 5400 block of Stoneybrook Drive on the city's Southwest Side.
Another man, who has not been identified, was found fatally wounded at a home next door, police said.
Police said the shooting victims got into an argument with the suspected gunman, Arturo Sada (pictured below), whom Lopez told police was intoxicated. Sada remains at large.
According to the affidavit, three men from Mexico were being held at gunpoint in the home. The men were taken by a criminal organization in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, and moved to the home, authorities said.
The men claim that Lopez and Sada demanded ransom from their families in the United States.
